Back in the day, the ten-story brick building on Sodomy Boulevard might have been a nice place to live. Now it’s full of Section 8 tenants. The live-in security guard–probably the only white resident–tells me that the building is owned by an Israeli mobster. Interesting, but that’s not the reason we’re here.

It’s a bullshit radio call. Some kids at a rundown video game arcade alleging that an employee splashed them with water. Dispatch advises no injuries, ambulance refused.

Al Pedersen and I arrive at our call: a liquor store on a seedy, dimly-lit street. Dispatch advises a female clerk is being beaten up by a male Hispanic. Al and I wonder the same thing—is it a stick up?
