The “Occupy” movement here in Gomorrah City started off with a bunch of well-meaning folks with a righteous cause. Over time, the huge encampment attracted fringe elements–the crazy, the homeless, and the junkies–who could care less about the movement’s message.

You get pulled over by the police. You end up with a ticket. For the sake of brevity, it doesn’t matter what for. What matters is that you decide to fight the ticket. But you miss your court date. A judge charges you with failure to appear in court. Your total in fines and fees: almost $1,500.

“Any unit in the vicinity, fire department is requesting a backup!” The radio announced that firefighters were dealing with a violent patient and needed police assistance. My partner and I weaved through rush hour traffic, lights and sirens, to get to the firefighters.
